What do you particularly enjoy about working at Marzulla Law?
To begin with why I chose this firm, Marzulla Law instantly stood out to me during my internship hunt as the perfect intersection of my goals and my past experiences. My past internship performing Environmental legal research prepared me to have the necessary background and care for the topics at dispute here in the law office.
Additionally, Marzulla Law offered me skill development matching the goals I set for myself in my job search, including the skills I need to work one day as an attorney. Working here, I have been very excited to learn more about the cases, the work which goes into them, and how best to grow in the field.
What are your goals following your internship at Marzulla Law?
When my time at this internship ends, I will be taking the Law School Admissions Test and applying to law school. I am very excited to explore the law, especially as it relates to contracts, environmental law, international business, and property.
As this upcoming year is my last year in my Political Science undergraduate program at Eastern Michigan University, I hope to enjoy my time with my friends and professors and have a good year growing our Model United Nations club as its new President.
Best advice you’ve ever received?
Whenever I begin to feel overwhelmed, there are two sayings which I repeat to myself. The first is the saying that “comparison is the thief of joy;” I am doing things at my own pace and the path others take, including how others get things done, is separate from me and how I best succeed at getting things done. Saying this always helps me relax, making me feel comfortable with my choices.
The second is that “I am made of my own thoughts.” At times when I am burnt out or stressed, sometimes thoughts end up spiraling. By shifting my thoughts from a negative into a positive tone, choosing intentionally to look at the good things, I build a habit of positivity which saves me from unnecessary stress.
What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie since childhood has been Howl’s Moving Castle. I love the visuals, music, and story! (Relatedly, my favorite YouTube video is of somebody recreating the titular moving castle out of their recycled garbage.)
Favorite vacation spot(s)?
If I am going to a beach, it must be Cancun, Mexico. My favorite trip I have ever taken; however, was to Japan, especially Kyoto, Kanazawa, and Takayama. I am really looking forward to my trip to China next year, so perhaps my favorite will soon be changing!
Favorite poem?
To Autumn by John Keats
